Description

This is an original oil on canvas (30"x24") No "Photo Shop" or tracing here. I used several images from the still photos and movie trailer as my references. Unfortunately, my digital camara does not show the color acurately. It reads a little "grey". The background has a bit more color to it and the area around the edges is actually a tad bit darker than it shows.

What an outstanding work! The ships' masts in the background add a moody, yet era-evocative feeling to this18th century image of pre-vampire Barnabas. Exquisite pastel-like coloration in the face with just enough muted details in the clothing to give a hint of his station in life. Interesting foreshadowing of things to come: the bloody drips beneath his regal image. I love that you have let the canvas surround--mimicking burlap or weathered sailcloth--remain untouched. An original work which demands to be seen (and touched) for its many textures. Most excellent!
